ORHAN YILDIZ baritone
BIOGRAPHY
The Baritone Orhan Yildiz was born in Samsun Turkey. He graduated from the Mersin Conservatory in 2002, where he studied under the tutelage of the Polish tenor Roman Werlisnki. While still studying at the Conservatory Mr Yildiz joined the Mersin State Opera in 2000, where he had the chance to debut his first important roles.
In 2002 he was the 3rd prize winner of the Siemens Voice Competition in Istanbul, which awarded him a scholarship to attend the prestigious Cnipal Opera Studio of the Marseille State Opera in France. While in Marseille Mr Yildiz worked under the tutelage of the famous Mezzo Yvonne Minton while also expanding his concert repertoire by performing regionally in cities such as Marseille and Avignon.
In 2004 he was the winner of the Jury price of the prestigious
Belvedere Voice Competition in Vienna. His involvement with the Mersin’s State Opera grew as the result of his success in competitions and he was offered numerous principal roles such as “Don Giovanni” in Don Giovanni, Conte in “le Nozze di Figaro”, Figaro in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Belcore in “l’Elisir d’Amore”, Silvio in “I Pagliacci” and Zurga in “Les Pecheurs de Perles”.
Orhan was a finalist of the Leyla Gencer Competition in 2008 as well as a finalist of the world renowned Operalia competition, through which he had the chance to sing under Placido Domingo’s baton. As a result of his performance in the final, Mr Yildiz received a formal invitation from Alexander Joel, General Music Director of the Braunschweig Opera, to join the theater as a soloist which he did in 2010 and started his European career in Braunschweig with “Carmina Burana”. Mr Yildiz has performed and premiered numerous roles while being a principal soloist of the Braunschweig Opera such as: Figaro, Conte, Don Giovanni, Ping, Belcore,Ford,Guglielmo,Demetrius,Nick Shadow and more recently Klingsor and Giorgio Germont.
In 2012 Orhan was the 2nd Prize winner (no assigned 1st Prize) of the prestigious Francisco Vinas Competition in Barcelona as well as the winner of numerous additional prizes including the much sought-after audience prize. His successes in Vinas, established him as a risingtalent of the european stages, and was followed by numerous invitations from European and International Theaters...
Orhan is currently part of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera, as well as being a guest singer in many renowned theaters such as the Hamburg State Opera, the Capitole in Toulouse, the Bremen Opera, the Santiago National Opera.
